Reality Check: (https://mediasmarts.ca/sites/mediasmarts/files/games/reality-check/index.html#/) This game made me realize how not all news are true ,and how to differentiate between true and false news. It was interesting , but all missions were similar so I got bored.

Sleep Deprived Mom Game: (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScap1su2i270VXK3DtWGWA683lyU6UkXJer_cSpN2tl0rXCjQ/viewform?c=0&w=1) At first when i found out it would be 21 pages , i lost interest but when i started playing I loved it , its very interesting and simple.

Branching Game: (https://h5p.org/branching-scenario#example=439819) it was very long, at first it was interesting then the fact that i have to choose the right answer and to figure which one is it , made it boring because i dont have a choice in the game.

Spent: (http://playspent.org/ ) I played this game more than one time and i never reach anything , its very difficult , but it actually makes you feel that u have limited money and you have to sacrifice things for others.

Syrian Journey: (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-32057601) personally this was my favorite , maybe because i survived it from the first time or maybe because due to the fact that i lived in sytia i am somehow biased a little towards it. But i loved this game.

” Wear a face mask , it will keep you safe”,they said. “Avoid Chinese food” , they said. And a lot of other things were said about the coronavirus that were false. Egyptians have to make a joke out of anything from rain and sandstorms all the way to deadly viruses .While The world health organization said that by washing your hands and not touching your face , saying this will keep you safe , Egyptians go around wearing face masks and gloves and not even eating Chinese food. This meme made me laugh a lot because it shows how Egyptians overreact , I don’t know if actually the minister of health said this. One of the things that I don’t get is that the world health organization saying that washing your hands is enough , but Tom Hanks for example got the virus and you want me to believe that he didn’t wash his hands?

Hey my name is Salma Farouk, i am an Egyptian Muslim girl , I study at AUC. Being an Egyptian girl isn’t easy, you go through a lot of judgement because of our culture and ethics . When i used to live in Syria, everyone would be like ” oh you’re Egyptian , then say something.” “do you know any of the famous actors” “hows life in Egypt? do u ride camels?” .The basic questions that anyone living or travelling abroad receive, when they say that they’re Egyptian. If you are a Muslim girl in a foreign country , that isn’t Arab or a Muslim country , you’ll always get this judgmental look, and you’ll get more judged if you are veiled. One of the things I also face because I am an AUCian , is that obviously ” I am spoiled” and ” you don’t learn anything” and that everything comes to me in a gold plate.

According to Taiye Selasi in her ted talk , I found out is that there is a difference between citizenship and nationality. You don’t have to have the nationality of a country to be considered a citizen , you are considered a citizen by the memories you make in this place.

I took two IAT tests : the weight one and the Arab – Muslim one. I just did the weight IAT and this was my result “Your responses suggested a moderate automatic preference for Thin people over Fat people” . I don’t find this test very informative , they just ask me to choose what they already gave me, its more of a memory test than it is related to behavior. I also did the Arab-Muslim IAT and my result was “Your responses suggested a slight automatic preference for Arab Muslims over Other People” I think because this is what i choose , i personally don’t think that the website adds anything or like shows anything new about my personality or my behavior.

One of the biases I see in daily life is about the Muslim girls that aren’t veiled. Due to Egypt being a Muslim and Islamic country , one of the major things in Islam is that all women after hitting puberty should be veiled. They get judged from everyone , both ladies and men , I mean we because i am one of them. As much as I understand and know that we should be veiled , I also know its something between me and my god. No one should be involved , but of course this doesn’t happen in our country and everyone is judged.

Before reading the article , I didn’t know that there was a difference between digital literacy and digital skills. What grabbed my attention the most was this saying “We often hear people talk about the importance of digital knowledge for 21st-century learners. Unfortunately, many focus on skills rather than literacies. Digital skills focus on what and how. Digital literacy focuses on why, when, who , and for whom.” Because it’s true , everything is now turning into digital . I’m kind of addicted to my digital life , I’m always using my phone , if not I’m using my laptop or something else.  

I found this very interesting “Instead of teaching how to use a hashtag and how to tweet and retweet, I give my students meaningful tasks to help their learning. (Twitter plays a large role in my teaching, but the essential elements can be applied in many technological contexts).” This is something everyone should know and learn, and to know why they tweet or post something not just because it’s a trend. 

In the talk on one of the boards, I wrote that everyone should learn coding ,and one of the doctors I think so, she asked why do I think that everyone should learn coding and she even asked in the talk the same question, my answer to her was that coding is the base for everything nowadays and its really important to know at least one programming language.
